OF THE IMMIGRANT
The true story of an immigrant housewife in 1978, who eases us into the present by way of the past. After the invasion of Poland in 1939, a young couple, Krysta and Anton, court one another from opposite sides of the political divide. Surviving the German Blitzkrieg, subsequent Russian "liberation," and obstacles as large the Grossglockner and Grossvenediger. Anton's idealism, dreams, and hopes of a new country, feed his desire to keep his new family together, despite the separation of years and distance. Krysta and Anton's daughter records their story, of people who are forced on opposite sides of war, immigration, language, misfortune, and forgiveness.
The sheer tenacity required to build, rebuild, and rebuild, over and over, is a testament of courage and a lesson in faith. Could easily be a micro-plot from The Winds of War.
